Shinola is an American luxury watch, leather and other goods company based out of Detroit, Michigan. Shinola was founded in 2011 by Tom Kartsotis of Bedrock Brands, also the former co-founder of Fossil. The company name came from a former shoe polish brand.
The brand is delicately assembled in Detroit, on the 5th floor of the historic Argonaut building. The building was originally built by General Motors in 1928, by architect, Albert Kahn. It is considered the design hub of Detroit. The state-of-the-art watch factory is clinical-like.
Shinola watches are made with Swiss movements, sapphire crystals, and other imported counter parts. Each employee undergoes meticulous trainings for assembly by Swiss partners. Requiring dexterous hands and a keen eye for details, the Shinola team builds watches that are high quality, classic, beautiful, and built to last.
Shinola sources leather from some of the finest tanneries in the world. The process to make the leather straps requires over 30 steps and 4 layers of materials all cut, sewn, and painted in-house. The leather straps are carefully color matched to create optimal style with the classic dials.
From the color of the threads used to stitch the straps together to the versatility of the quick release pins, the watches can be interchangeable and are built for generations of use.
The Runwell Chrono 47mm Argonite-5021 features luminescence. It has a bold blue face with complementary orange hands and an easy-to-read dial. Made of high-quality steel with screwed in pumpkin crown, frame, and multifunctional sub-dials. This watch also features the date down at 6 o’clock and 2nd counter timing function for seconds and minutes.
